As an Ecosystem Partner, Howden is committed to supporting female founders and business leaders with the knowledge, insights and expertise they need to make informed decisions about risk.

Howden is working to change the insurance narrative – supporting clients while using insurance as a tool to increase resilience for individuals, businesses, and communities.

Employee ownership culture

Over 30% of Howden employees own shares, giving them the freedom to build and grow the business as owners rather than simply working for it.

People first

Howden is a people-first company whose business centres on human relationships.

Understanding risk

Making risk easier to understand

Insurance and risk management can often feel complex.

Through this partnership, Howden is working to help businesses understand their risks more clearly.

By sharing practical knowledge and translating complex risk considerations into straightforward business conversations, Howden empowers female founders to ask the right questions and understand how their risk profile may change as their business evolves.

Supporting women around the globe

Building resilient businesses

The Howden Foundation supports businesses and communities globally by using its insurance expertise, funding and partnerships to improve financial resilience, particularly in underserved and climate-vulnerable communities. As part of this broader work, it supports female-led businesses and initiatives that advance women’s economic participation.

Through initiatives such as MiCRO, it provides microinsurance and risk-management support to entrepreneurs, including women, while the Howden Foundation backs women-focused programmes such as HERA’s climate insurance initiative, which has supported more than 225,000 women in India and expanded to Sierra Leone.

Howden has also partnered with organisations such as the Swiss Capacity Building Facility and Mercy Corps to develop inclusive insurance products for small businesses and entrepreneurs in emerging markets, with specific initiatives designed to improve access and financial protection for women.

Through this wider approach, Howden and the Howden Foundation aim to strengthen financial resilience and provide greater protection against financial and climate-related shocks, while helping women and other underserved communities maintain their livelihoods and build more resilient businesses.

Confidence to pursue what comes next

As businesses grow, their risk landscape changes. New employees, customers, contracts, technology, locations and markets can all create different exposures.

Howden works with female-led businesses to understand those changes and consider risk in the context of their broader ambitions – helping founders put the right foundations in place for sustainable growth.
